What is this course about?

Explore Ecovillage Life is an invitation to step into a living community and experience what it means to share meals, work, decisions, and dreams. You will touch both the beauty and the challenges of community life — and discover how deeply personal growth and collective life are connected.

It is not about being the perfect community or the perfect person.
It is about learning how to be human together.

Whether Avnø becomes your place or simply a step on your path, you will leave more grounded, more skilled, and more prepared for community life.

LEAF

What will you get

Explore Ecovillage Life is a 10-day immersion into the everyday reality of ecovillage and intentional community life.

You will live, learn, and work together with others while gaining practical skills that support healthy community life — whether in a family, workplace, co-housing project, or intentional community.

The course focuses on Avnø Oasis, while also drawing on experiences from other types of communities. Whether you discover that Avnø is a good match for you or feel called elsewhere, you will leave better prepared for community life.

For those interested in staying longer or exploring a path toward active involvement in Avnø Oasis, it is possible to add extra days that are purely experiential.

LEAF

Is this course for you?

This course may be for you if you:

  • Are curious about living in an ecovillage or intentional community
  • Wonder what it really means to share daily life, responsibilities, and decisions
  • Want to experience community life from the inside — not just learn about it
  • Enjoy learning by doing, reflecting, and engaging with others
  • Are interested in sustainability, shared living, holistic health, and personal growth
  • Are open to both the beauty and the challenges of community life

No prior experience is needed — just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to participate.

This course may not be for you if you

  • Are looking for a purely theoretical or lecture-based course
  • Prefer privacy over shared daily life
  • Want clear answers without engaging in dialogue or process
  • Are not interested in communal meals, shared responsibilities, or collaboration
LEAF

How do we work?

  • Through hands-on participation, reflection, and shared practices, you will gain insight into:

    • Community life beyond ideals and romantic images
    • Sustainable and regenerative ways of living
    • Communication, collaboration, and decision-making
    • How personal growth and collective life are deeply connected
