Who will you meet here?

Avnø Oasis is home to a small group of core members who live here all year round. In addition, members, volunteers, students and guests come and go—some stay for a short period, while others return year after year.

Our community is international and diverse. Around the dining table, you will typically find people from 8 to 14 different nationalities, ranging in age from 3 to 79. During active periods, we are around 30–50 people, while in the quieter winter months, we are often around 10–15 and during events we may be as many as 2-300.

A living, ever-changing community, rooted in the people who call Avnø Oasis home.

Our everyday life

Our days are filled with a variety of activities. After breakfast, we meet for a morning circle singing a song, sharing announcements & intentions for the day.

Working hours are flexible to find balance between personal needs, social time and the needs of the community.

Weekly happenings

Our weekly wellbeing meeting is a temperature check on personal and communal well-being. Here we bring up subjects that need attention.

Our weekly sharing circle is a powerful opportunity to stay in touch with what is alive in ourselves and in others.

Special happenings

Some evenings and afternoons somebody arranges social activities or parties with themes (Image from Guess which vegetable-party). When new people arrive we have an opening circle and when people leave a closing circle. Community meetings are held when requested.

Throughout the year we host guests and events and offer both shorter and longer courses, bringing new people, fresh perspectives, and inspiration into the community.

Accommodation

All bedrooms have private bathrooms. Nature is right outside the window with views to forest, yard or sea.

Considering to live at Avnø?

Begin your explorer process by visiting us, taking part in our courses, or by joining as a volunteer. During this period both you and us will invest some time and willingness to get to know each other well enough to understand if there is a mutual fit.

If you enjoy the people living here, your vision and values align with our 7 keys, and you fulfil a role/function that you enjoy carrying out while it also contributes to the community, we will most likely also enjoy having you as part of our community.

Kristiane, Denmark

My passion for seeing people & plants grow inspired me to be part of Avnø …

It’s the first time in my life, I’m not looking for my next place.  While being involved in this project, I have discovered that I also love developing projects. It’s amazing to build relationships with people from all over the world. To be in a place where I can contribute to people feeling empowered to live their dream.

Lena, Ukraine

Throughout my life I often felt a quiet sense of restlessness about where I lived, who I lived with, and the way I was living …

I was always searching for something more aligned, more meaningful. Living at Avnø is the first time I don’t feel that pull to look elsewhere. Avnø is a place where I can truly be myself and act in alignment with who I am. The culture is free from substitutes and artificial layers, which makes the connection to myself and others real and authentic. I have never been very drawn to a conventional life. I want to contribute to something meaningful — something that is bigger than myself. Being here feels like the right place to do that.

Visiting Avnø

Discover a more natural, healthy, authentic lifestyle as a short term recreational or contributing guest or as a long-term guest - also called a co-liver. Contributing guests and co-livers pay for room and board and contribute with daily tasks 2 hours per day. Recreational guests don't contribute. Find prices and apply here.

Maria, Canada

At Avnø Oasis, I discovered how to cook meals following the rhythm of the seasons and the body…

For two weeks I returned to simplicity – shared meals, creative spaces, and conscious choices. It’s a golden learning opportunity!

Lucia, Italy

I often come back to Avnø, because…

there I feel like at home. It makes me grow both as a human being and professionally. This motivates me to keep coming back. I really enjoy the connections I make there, the people I get to know and the possibilities that unfold for me. And I enjoy contributing when I’m there and see the project growing and developing every time I come back.
